- אֲמַדch. sam(אמדto form an approximate estimate, to guess; to appraise, judge, deliver an experts opinion). Bekh.61a להכי אמדתיך I guessed this was thy intention. Keth.68a הא דאמידניה in the one case it means that we have formed an opinion about him (know whether he is stingy or liberal).Part. pass. אָמִיד. Arakh.20a הא א׳ וקאי he stands appraised, he has been valued before this.Hence אָמִיד believed to be wealthy. B. Kam.62a איניש א׳. Keth.85b ידענא ביה דלא א׳ I know he is not rich. B.
